A Gift for the Future: New Microscopes for Students (May 2025)

Thanks to the incredible generosity of Chip and Joan Filson, the biology classroom at Gymnasium #6 in Zviahel, Zhytomyr region, has been completely transformed.

What was once a room with only two microscopes is now a fully equipped science lab. Every student now has access to their own microscope, and the teacher is equipped with a digital microscope that projects onto the classroom whiteboard—turning each lesson into a shared, hands-on exploration of the microscopic world.

Before this donation, students had to wait their turn for just a glimpse through a lens. Today, they all dive into learning at the same time, making science more engaging, accessible, and inspiring.

Who knows—maybe one of these young minds will grow up to develop a breakthrough in RNA technology, find a treatment for rare genetic diseases, or help design advanced prosthetics for Ukraine’s defenders.
